The Gospel is For Everyone.

Rooted in the Gospel

We’re convinced the gospel is more than just an idea to agree with. Rather, it’s the fire that animates our hearts, driving a whole-life orientation with Jesus at the center for the sake of others. We intend to use our ministry hub to nurture, equip, and encourage you in spiritual formation, with a focused emphasis on Next-generation ministries.

George Barna, founder of The Barna Group, recently commented, “We’ve reached a time of Christian invisibility in our culture. What I’m seeing now is that we’re getting to this place where the typical American…will not have anyone in their circle of influence who has a biblical worldview.”

We aim to change this by equipping you to connect the gospel to every part of your daily life. We want to nurture your knowledge and understanding of the Christian faith so everyone is prepared to live it out in our current cultural moment. Our desire is to create opportunities for learning to walk daily in the way of Jesus, being empowered by the Holy Spirit, and not in the ways of the world. And we also intend to strengthen people to be public with their faith and intentional about serving their neighbors.

A ministry hub would provide a regular space where members can be deeply formed and rooted in the gospel.

Rooted for our community

One of the best ways we can love and bless our neighbors is by becoming a physical neighbor ourselves.

We believe the best way to make an impact for the gospel in North County is through the establishment of a permanent “ministry hub” for Trinity. We sense the need for a consistent space for building community and for equipping our members to live into Jesus’ vision of the kingdom permeating the places we live, work, and serve.

While there are real barriers to ownership for churches in San Diego, we believe the time is now to explore creative solutions. Trinity will continue to rent space from Design39 for the foreseeable future for Sunday gatherings. And our new ministry hub will serve the needs of our community throughout the rest of the week. We will have 24/7 access to this space – creating a more permanent sense of identity for the congregation while also serving as a ministry launch pad.

One of the best ways we can love and bless our neighbors is by becoming a physical neighbor ourselves. We want to do more than descend into a neighborhood on Sundays to “use” space. We want to be rooted in the fabric of the neighborhood, creating a place for members of Trinity to use throughout the week, which can also serve the needs of our friends and neighbors.

We envision a hospitable and beautiful ministry hub that will facilitate community, spiritual formation efforts, serve our middle & high school students, and that will provide office space for our staff. But just as importantly, we envision a place where we can serve the needs of our neighbors, embodying what it looks like to be a “church not for ourselves.”

It’s About More Than Just a Meeting Space.

Rooted for Others

We are fueled by a conviction that deep formation in the gospel is the best way to work toward the flourishing of San Diego. When people’s hearts are captivated by the power of the gospel, the habits and patterns of our lives are redemptively re-purposed. Practicing the way of Jesus through acts of hospitality, service, and sacrificial love serves the common good of everyone around us.

Proverbs 11:10 says, “When the righteous thrive, a city rejoices.” This means that a life shaped by the ways of Jesus should always result in blessing for others. When those whose hearts are being renewed by the gospel thrive, the entire city thrives, not simply our congregation. Our desire to establish a local ministry hub for Trinity isn’t simply about expanding our footprint. It’s about creating opportunities to see the broader city rejoice.

Increasing the number of Christians living out the gospel will have a significant positive effect on the patterns of life in San Diego. This starts with personal renewal in hearts and lives. Then imagine gospel-centric renewal also multiplying expressions of philanthropy, justice, mercy, reconciliation, integrity, and hope across San Diego in ways that advance the common good for everyone in the city. This is what it means to be rooted for others.

We’re After the Hearts of the Next Generation.

A man is giving a presentation to a group of people in a classroom.

A recent study revealed that two thirds of students (66%) halt their church attendance after graduation. The reasons most typically cited by those who depart? The life transition of college (34%), the difficulty of judgmental or hypocritical church members (32%), and a lack of connection within the community of the church (29%). While not all of these may be directly answered by the introduction of a new meeting space, we believe that the Rooted Campaign is an influential part in Trinity’s attempt to run back these numbers.

By introducing a regular space where our students can gather together, it’s our hope that the Next Generation of Trinity will experience the liberating truths of the gospel, and together, as friends, live out of a conviction that the gospel alone holds the power to renew everything and everyone.

With the Rooted Campaign, we’re doing more than just acquiring a meeting space. We’re laying claim to our students in a commitment to see them grow into more than just a statistic. At Trinity, we’re committed to seeing your students Rooted in the Gospel, within their schools & neighborhoods, and for the good of others.

We’re inviting everyone who calls Trinity home to engage in a spiritual decision-making process that leads to a financial commitment above and beyond regular giving. Biblical stewardship isn’t about equal gifts, but equal sacrifice, according to what God has entrusted to each of us. More than a fundraising effort, this is an opportunity to be part of what we believe God is doing to bring flourishing to all—starting with us and reaching across North County San Diego.

Equal Sacrifice Not Equal Gift.
